The International Driver's License (IDL) is a document that provides important information from your driver's license in eleven different languages, including international english language.
This document came into existence by virtue of a treaty signed in 1949 by the United States and other foreign countries.
As an official document, the international driving permit (IDP) is recognized in over 150 countries today.
International drivers license (or international driving licence) explains that you hold a valid driver's license from your country. The authorization for the International Drivers License has its basis in united nation conventions on Road Traffic and Safety held in 1923, 1943, 1949 and 1968 which established standards for International Driving Permit.

Requirements to obtain international drivers license:
Applicants for an International drivers license must:
- Be 18 or older;
- Have a recognized driver's license;
- Submit passport-type photo and copy of your signature;
- Fill out an application for international drivers license online or mail your compleated application and documents to our office. If you choose to send us your documents by mail, please mail your completed application with documents and payment to:

An International drivers license cannot be post-dated, extended, or renewed, and is valid for only one year from the date of issue. Each time a new international drivers license is required, the driver must repeat the entire application procedure. The IDP must be applied for in the country of origin and cannot be used there in place of a regular driver's license. If you do not receive this confirmation about international driving licence, there was an error in the submittal process. Please apply again for international drivers license. Only when you receive your e-mail confirmation will you know if you successfully applied ( or unapplied ) for international driving licence documents.

The style that we carry is very straight forward, and easy to understand. The English data for your native drivers license is numbered, with its foreign language translation adjacent to it; for ease of comprehension.

The International Driver's License or International driving licence issued by the World Drivers Club is a translation of a national driver's license which allows the motorist to drive in different territories without experiencing difficulties with various language barriers. This international driver's license is, however, valid only with the original driver's license. We do not issue valid International Driver's Licenses nor are these documents intended for legal driving use. You are required to have valid government issued licenses to operate a vehicle. Your International Driver’s License MUST be accompanied at all times by your original valid driver's license. You are not allowed to present IDL as the main document because it is only a translation of your original driver's license

| An international driver's license
may be obtained from your home country. This permit only verifies that you hold a valid license in your country. It is your foreign driver's license that allows
you to drive in your country. Contact us to get an international driving permit, as the AAA USA does NOT issue international driving licence to foreign visitors. An International Driving Permit (IDP) allows you to drive a private motor vehicle overseas when accompanied by a valid native driving licence. Also the International Drivers License ( or international driving licence ) can be used as an additional form of identification should your passport be unavailable or locked away in a safe place.
